The STASH Guy | Best Performing Stash Stocks & ETFs Week ending 7.27.18
By Jay P - July 28, 2018
Hey STASHers, The Stash guy was away for a couple days due to sickness and over that time we had some major moves in the stock market. It's officially earnings season and some of the A+ students don't seem to be doing to good. Last week we had a 20% drop in Netflix after it reported earnings and the subscriber numbers were not up to par. This week Facebook and Twitter were the major let downs each dropping close to 20% after reporting earnings. If you want to be an investor you have to learn from these lessons. Unfortunately stocks don't go up in a straight line, thats just not the way the world works. Even after Netflix's 20% slide it is still up over 80% for the year. Twitter is still up over 40% for the year and Facebook is at basically break even. This means don't over react and remember if you are investing in your future then you should not be deterred.
Although we do have to wonder if the run has ended for the Stock market's most influential group known as FANG (Facebook, Amazon, Netflix, and Google). Surprisingly none of our top 3 stocks this week were any of the FANG stocks instead, AMD (+14%), Union Pacific (+5%), and Chipotle (+4.68%) were the top stock movers. Twitter was the worst performer down over 20% in one week, yikes! Raw Earth (+2.23%), Up & Coming (+1.93%) and Robots Rising (1.78%) were the top ETF gainers.

The activity in the stock market is another reason why I stress that you want to be diversified. You should be owning at least 5 stocks with two of those being ETFs. The worst performing ETFs only lost about 5% this week compared to over 16% for Facebook and Twitter.
ETFs (Exchange Traded Funds)
What is an ETF?An ETF is an investment that you can buy and sell like stocks. It tracks either an index, commodity, bonds or baskets of assets like an index fund. The price of an ETF changes throughout the day as they are bought and sold. On STASH, non-stocks (Delicious dividends, On Cloud Nine and Blue Chips) are the STASH names given to real ETFs that trade on the Stock Market.
